Esska’s cool take on a girly silhouette is perfect for fall and winter. The Hanya patent leather shoe in rust is sexy and sophisticated and has so much depth in color. The oxford style with black lace-up pairs with the angular black, stacked 2” wooden heel. They are finished with a black rubber sole so they are perfect for walking. Leather lined and made with Esska’s comfy padded foot bed. Made in Portugal. Where them with a navy green pencil skirt and a cool black top for a cool work to happy hour look.
Like many businesses Esska Shoes was born out of a want and a belief.
We wanted, but couldn’t find, shoes, boots and sandals that looked good, were colourful and fun, made of leather, fairly priced and most importantly comfortable enough to wear all day, every day...And we believed we could create a footwear brand to answer these needs.
So in 2006 we set about creating Esska Shoes and today we think we have gone a long way towards creating a brand of stylish, colourful, comfortable and affordable shoes.
We were fortunate to have a bit of a head start when we had our ‘eureka moment’.
Souraya Karami, who founded Esska Shoes and whose initials formed the Esska name (the French phonetic pronunciation of S and K is ‘ESS’ ‘KA’), had recently graduated in footwear design from the prestigious London College of Fashion having spent the previous 5 years working as an architect.
Souraya’s then boyfriend, now husband, Dan Gyves had spent 15 years in the shoe industry and Dan’s father had more than 50 years experience in shoe design and manufacture.
You could say it was more a case of when rather than if we’d create a shoe company.
Well, we have come a long way since 2006. We out grew our initial premises, also known as the spare bedroom, and moved into a small office in Hackney, East London. This was followed by larger premises in Acton, West London and today we work with the rest of the Esska team out of our design studio in Park Royal, also in West London.
